12/20/16: The ordinance establishing the Community Preservation Committee has passed! Now, the process starts for filling the 4 appointed members of the committee. "In choosing persons for “appointed” positions the Mayor shall give preference to those residents who have expertise and/or a demonstrated interest in open space, recreation, historic preservation, affordable housing, capital planning,municipal finance, or fiscal accounting practices. To the greatest extent possible appointed members of the Committee shall be selected in a geographically balanced fashion so as to achieve a fair representation of the entire City."

11/11/16: The Ad-hoc Subcommittee charged with considering and making recommendations on the discretionary items for implementation of the Community Preservation Act Ordinance in Medford has submitted recommendations to the Committee of the Whole; a meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, 11/15/16 to review and discuss the recommendations. 7/19/16: The Ad-hoc Subcommittee charged with considering and making recommendations on the discretionary items for implementation of the Community Preservation Act Ordinance in Medford presented their recommendations to the Committee of the Whole on Tuesday, 7/19/16. Community input was recognized, and the recommendations were received with the thanks of the committee. The process now moves onto the next steps, where the City Solicitor will create, and the City Council will approve/establish the ordinance.
7/8/16: The City Council Subcommittee charged with considering and making recommendations on the discretionary items for implementation of the Community Preservation Act Ordinance in Medford has finalized its recommendations to the City Council. Interested parties should check the City of Medford website for the details. Public comments will be accepted through July 18th and can be sent to email@example.com. 4/5/16: Tonight's CPA meeting delayed: The meeting that was planned for tonight at City Hall in room 207 is delayed, as the committee is finishing up the draft of the recommendations document for the public to review and comment. Stay tuned for updates on when the next meeting will be scheduled.
3/15/16: Discussion continued on discretionary items, with all options identified, and a recommendation from the committee on each. The recommendations are based on a thorough review of other towns implementation best practices, and what was considered in the best interest for Medford. These options/recommendations will be available for review and comment by the community. An invitation for the community to provide feedback, by communication to the committee (including to a special email address), or by attendance at a community meeting, will be posted on the Medford website; sharing of this opportunity to provide feedback is encouraged. Next meeting will be 4/5/16 at 5:30pm City Hall room 207.
3/8/16: Aspects of the CPA implementation identified as discretionary were identified, as well as the gathering of ideas on how the different discretionary items might be implemented; Feedback from the public was collected. Discussion will continue at the next meeting on 3/15/16 at 5:30pm room 207.
3/2/16: During the first meeting of the CPA sub-committee, information was gathered on what tasks are required to be completed in order to establish the Community Preservation Committee in Medford. Feedback from the public was collected. Next meeting scheduled for 3/8/16 at 6pm, city hall, room 207.
1/27/16: In November 2015, the Medford City Council approved the creation of a sub-committee to work on establishing the CPA in Medford. Councillor Knight is leading the committee, and is working on building the membership, and scheduling meetings to begin the process. The first meeting is being planned for the beginning of February.
